Features and Performance

Viking has been making bikes since 1908. Through immense experience, the company knows what works and what doesn’t work for consumers. The Viking Race bike rides exceptionally well and will last a lifetime.

Assembly

This model is said to be “90 percent” assembled. Upon unpacking, you will need to inflate the tires and attach a few pieces, including the handlebars, pedals, front wheel and saddle. You will also want to read through the instructions to follow the gear and brake adjustments.

While the manufacturer does adjust these settings, they often get altered during transport and may need to be set again prior to use.

Comfort and Customization

Especially when going on a road bike for the first time, comfort is essential. This model is dubbed the Race Eco and is meant for the first-time user that doesn’t have road experience. This bike comes in 3 size selections that can be chosen before purchase:

  • 53 cm
  • 56 cm
  • 59 cm

The handlebars should be adjusted before your first ride. This is done through the black stem. The VKR4 saddle can also be adjusted to your height and is a very comfortable seat that is easy to adjust.

The pedals seen are made of low-slip resin to ensure that your feet are always firmly planted on the pedals even when it is raining.

Riding Experience

The 700C wheels seem to absorb the impact on the ground perfectly when riding. The 14 gears are easily engaged right through the handlebar mount using levers. You will need some practice to get used to these settings, but the switching of gears is nearly flawless.

The pull caliper brakes are controlled with levers and allow for quick stopping at all times.

Overall, the riding experience was pleasurable and there were no major concerns seen.

Pros

  • Great quality
  • Many speeds to select
  • Great braking power
  • Comfortable ride

Cons

  • Gears may need to be adjusted
  • Some preassembly is required

During the initial Viking Race bike review, there were no complaints seen. The assembly required is pretty standard and there was nothing out of the ordinary seem. Inflating the tires can be a hassle if you don’t have a pump, but this should not be much of an issue. Ideally, you will have a pump handy just in case your tire pressure ever gets low.

Once assembled, the Viking Race was a pleasure to ride and provided great speed, immense stopping power and the utmost in comfort.
